Real estate is a family tradition begun by Robert’s mother. “My mom got me into the business. Growing up, I saw her doing what I do now, and that got the wheels turning for me.”

Robert began working on the lending side of the industry 17 years ago. Today he brings that depth of perspective to his role of broker/associate at First Team Real Estate, where he and his team, The Rivera Group, were recently recognized as number one in sales for 2015. Robert’s comprehensive experience and precise representation combined with the power of the number one real estate brand in Southern California are creating winning results for clients throughout North Orange County and beyond.

Robert puts his money where his mouth is. In one instance, his buyer’s concurrent close was delayed by the seller’s unexpected IRS lien payoff demand. “It took a month to sort it out. In the meantime, I had storage containers delivered to the house for their belongings. It was one less thing for them to worry about. There are always going to be situations where things don’t quite work out as planned – but it’s what you do about it that makes the difference. I think we’re doing a really good job managing our transactions and having our clients’ best interests at heart. I think that’s why so many people are willing to take the time to write a review.”

One of those reviews came from a family who was so genuinely touched by the personal service they received from Robert and his team during the purchase of their home, they are determined to tell the world about it. There are a number of things that set The Rivera Group apart from the competition. First, Robert says that communication is key. “Clients love that they receive an update every other day. We are huge on communication and keeping clients informed throughout the process.”

Second, the team goes all the way when it comes to preparing listings for market. “We don’t just take a listing on the spot, grab a phone to take pictures, and then have it on the market the next day. It can take two-to-three weeks to get the listing ready to sell, because we pride ourselves on preparation. You only have one shot to get it right, because the hottest time for any new listing is the first two weeks. We make sure it’s all done before we pull the trigger. We stage every home, and we use an incredible photographer whose specialty is houses and architecture. His work is amazing and drives a lot of traffic to our listings. In fact, we are fortunate to be grandfathered in as a client, since he is so busy he doesn’t take on any new clients.”

Buyers receive the same kind of attentive service, and The Rivera Group gets their offers accepted when others don’t. Why? “We write smart, methodical offers. But we do more than just state the numbers. We go the extra mile to create emotional attachment between the buyer and seller, submitting a letter from the buyer along with photos. We want the seller to know the family who will be living in their home.”

Robert and Cynthia have worked together in lending and real estate for many years. “She is really good with people, and she’s been helping me since the mortgage days. She knows a lot about the business and helps me tremendously with day-to-day activities, freeing me to be available to our clients. She’s also a licensed agent, so it’s nice because some prefer to deal with her, and others prefer to deal with me. We can accommodate anyone’s comfort and needs.”

As a family, Robert and Cynthia are highly visible in their home community, since their children play sports, and Robert is also a busy coach for both school and community-based teams.

And speaking of coaching – Robert has been part of the Tom Ferry coaching community for the past five years. He attributes a portion of his team’s success to that investment. “Ever since I’ve started, my business has gone up year over year. Because of coaching, I’ve been able to get ahead of the curve as things in the industry change. I also appreciate the leadership of my manager, Bob MacCulloch. He’s the best around. In every situation, the answer to any question is: do the right thing; protect our clients.”

In a digitized world where practices are rapidly changing and business is less personal than it once was, things like traditional family values and standing behind a handshake are even more precious than ever before.
